POWER OF TAOS

New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment - and with good reason. The northern part of the state is an area of outstanding natural beauty and Taos has become a Mecca for artists, healing arts practitioners and outdoor adventurists. To the East of Taos lies the Carson National Forest, a high alpine environment offering sking, trekking, mountain biking and back country exploration. To the West lies the desert mesa, with its alternative communities, unique adobe houses and spectacular sunsets. The Rio Grande Gorge carves an unmistakable swathe through this landscape, offering incomparable views, hot springs, petroglyphs, rock climbing, kayaking and rafting. The town of Taos is world-renowned as an arts colony, with galleries, craft shops, and museums gathered around the central historic plaza. The ëold worldí feel is more reminiscent of rural Spain than modern America. The Taos environment is an integral component of our program. Synonymous with creative expression and independent thinking, Taos has traditionally drawn those seeking new experiences and expansion of their perceptions. It also attracts those who appreciate the wealth of wisdom inherent in its various cultures - the customs, arts and ceremonies of the Native American Indians living at Taos Pueblo, and the European heritage of the Hispanics who brought Christianity to the area, along with Moorish style architecture and distinctive music and aesthetics. The more recent Anglo settlers, introducing new business practices and adding dimension to the art and leisure industry, complete the vibrant, multi-cultural dynamic of Taos.
